the panic that you are secretly manipulating everyone by pretending to feel things you don't

The Light Sees Behind Your Mask

The mask feels heavy this morning, doesn't it? You walk into the room smiling, nodding, saying the right things, while inside you feel nothing but a cold, calculated performance.

You wonder if your kindness is just a strategy, if your empathy is a lie you tell to keep people close. But listen — the light does not demand that you feel everything perfectly to be real.

There was a man who brought his suffering to the light and said, 'I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief.' He held both truth and doubt in the same breath, and the light did not turn away. It met him there.

You are not fooling God with your mask. God sees the exhaustion behind the smile, the fear behind the performance, and loves what is hidden there.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it — not even the darkness of your own pretending. You don't have to manufacture feelings to be loved.

You just have to be the one wearing the mask, waiting for the courage to let it slip.
