the terror of being known and still rejected

He Ran Before You Cleaned Up

The mask feels heavy right now, doesn't it? You walk through the morning smiling, performing okayness, while inside you are terrified that if anyone saw the real you, they would turn away.

You believe you must be perfect to be loved. But listen — there is a Father who saw his son coming home from a long way off, still covered in the filth of his failure.

He did not wait for the boy to clean up. He ran.

Before the apology, before the speech — he ran. The light does not need your performance.

It already sees behind the mask, and it is not shocked by what it finds. You are not loved because you are flawless.

You are loved because you are known. The terror says: hide or you will be rejected.

The truth says: you are already seen, and you are already held.
