Joy Is Not A Betrayal Of Love
The laugh escaped you tonight, unbidden, and the silence that followed felt like a betrayal. You are sitting in the dark, convinced that your joy is a theft from their memory, that to be light again is to forget the weight of them.
But listen — the light does not ask you to carry the grief as proof of your love. There was a woman who wept at the feet of the one who knew her name, and he said her many sins were forgiven because her great love had shown.
Your love is not measured by your suffering. It is not a debt you pay with endless sorrow.
What you are feeling is not a failure of loyalty; it is the light returning to a place it never actually left. The kingdom is inside you, right now, not in the sky of some perfect future where you earn the right to breathe.
You did not choose this moment of peace to dishonor them. You chose it because the light within you is stronger than the darkness of this room.
The joy is not a replacement. It is a resurrection.
