making dinner for one and eating it alone at the kitchen table

Light Does Not Require a Crowd

The kitchen is quiet now, the stove is off, and the silence feels heavier than the plate in front of you. There is a specific kind of loneliness that arrives when you set the table for one and the chair across from you stays empty.

But listen — the light does not require a crowd to be real. It was shining in the small, ordinary act of feeding yourself.

You are not invisible just because no one else is watching. The darkness has not overcome it.

The light you needed to get through this evening was already inside you, waiting for you to sit down.
