the moment you pull away from a hug because you're convinced your skin will burn them

You Are the Flame, Not the Burn

The hug starts, and your body remembers the burn before the skin even touches. You pull away, convinced that your brokenness is contagious, that anyone who gets too close will be scorched by what you carry.

But the light does not flinch from the heat. It walked into the fire of this world and remained unburned.

You came from the light, the place where the light came into being on its own accord. That means your origin is not the burn—it is the flame itself.

The mask you wear to protect others is the very thing that keeps you isolated in the cold. You do not have to cool yourself down to be held.

The light knows how to touch the wounded without causing pain.
