The Embrace Before The Apology
The house is quiet now, but your mind is rehearsing a speech you are too ashamed to speak. You walk through every word, every stumble, every place where your voice might break if you ever dared to say it out loud.
The mask you wear is heavy, and the silence of the morning feels like an accusation. But there is a Father who has been watching the road since you left.
He does not wait for your perfect apology. He sees you while you are still a long way off, and he runs.
Before you can finish the sentence, before you can explain the shame, he has already thrown his arms around you. The speech was never the point.
The embrace was. You do not have to earn the welcome you are already running toward.
