The Light Stays Beside You
The house is quiet now, but your mind is loud with the memory of that lie. You told it to protect your image, to keep the mask from slipping, and now you lie awake terrified that they see right through you.
That fear is a heavy chain, but listen — the light does not recoil from your dishonesty. There was a woman caught in the act, exposed and trembling, yet the only voice that mattered did not condemn her.
It simply asked where her accusers went, and when they were gone, it offered peace. Your shame tells you that you must be perfect to be loved, but the light knows you are broken and stays anyway.
It is not waiting for you to confess before it comes closer; it is already sitting beside you in the dark. The person you lied to may see your flaw, but the light sees your heart, and it calls you friend.
