The Light Runs Before You Speak
The house is quiet now, but your mind is screaming. You watch them walk toward the same cliff you fell from years ago, and your hands are tied by the fear that one word from you will push them over the edge.
You sit in the dark, swallowing the warning, while the old terror replays in your chest. There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off.
He did not wait for the apology. He did not lecture.
He ran. The light does not stand at a distance calculating the perfect thing to say.
It runs. It meets you in the mess before you have fixed it.
Your silence is not abandonment. It is the space where the light is already working in them, unseen.
You cannot save them by speaking, and you cannot save them by holding your tongue. The light that lives in you is the same light that lives in them.
It knows the way back even when they are lost. Rest your weary heart tonight.
The watching is enough.
