You Are The Lamp They See Through
The house is quiet now, but you saw it. That flicker in their eyes when they thought you were looking away.
A split-second of pity, heavy and soft, before they masked it with a smile. It lands like a stone in your chest, whispering that you are a burden, that your pain is too much for the light they carry.
But listen — pity is not the final verdict. It is just the shadow cast by their own helplessness, not a measure of your worth.
The Father's light was already inside you before the sickness, before the grief, before that glance ever landed. It cannot be dimmed by a moment of sorrow in someone else's gaze.
Jesus walked through rooms full of pity and never once became less than the Light of the World. You are not defined by the way they look at you when you are weak.
You are defined by the light that refuses to leave, even when the room feels dark. The love in their eyes might waver, but the love in you is steady.
It was there before the pity, and it will be there after. You are not the object of their sorrow.
You are the lamp they are trying to see through their own tears.
