The Light Knows Your Trembling Hands
The house is quiet now, but the lie you told tonight is still loud in your head. You said the shaking was just cold.
You said the smell of mouthwash was just hygiene. But your child looked at you with eyes that trusted you completely, and you felt the distance grow.
The dark gathers around this secret, telling you that you are too broken to be loved, that the mask must stay on or everything will fall apart. But there is a light that does not need your performance to shine.
It entered the world not to judge the liar, but to live inside them. That same light is in the room with you right now, sitting in the silence you are so afraid to break.
It knows the tremor in your hands and the reason for the minty breath, and it does not turn away. You are not defined by the story you told to protect them.
You are defined by the truth that is already holding you. The night is not a place to hide your failure; it is the place where the hidden things are brought into the open so they can finally stop hurting you.
