The Light Sees Your Hidden Tears
The house is quiet now, but the echo of that question still hangs in the air. 'Why were you crying?' Your child asked it with eyes wide open, while you were still wearing the mask you painted on in the driveway.
You wiped your face. You smiled.
You walked inside carrying a weight they cannot see. But the light does not need your performance to be present.
It sees the tears you hid, and it calls them holy. There is a tenderness that knows exactly how hard it is to hold it together until the garage door closes.
You did not fail because you cried. You failed nothing.
The light was in the car with you, catching every tear before it hit the steering wheel. And that same light is in the room now, not asking you to explain, but simply sitting beside you while you breathe.
The mask was for them. The tears were for you.
But the love? The love is for both of you, unbroken and whole.
