the specific terror of lying perfectly still so your partner doesn't feel how much you are shaking inside

Peace That Lies Down In The Dirt

The house is quiet now, and you are holding your breath so the person beside you won't feel the tremor running through your bones. You lie perfectly still, terrified that if you move even an inch, the shaking will give you away—that they will know how much you are drowning in the dark.

But the light does not require you to be steady to be present. It knows the vibration of your fear before you ever tried to hide it.

There is a peace that does not ask you to stop trembling first. It simply lies down in the dirt with you.

You do not have to protect your partner from your storm. The light is already holding the weight of your shaking, and it is not afraid of the quake.

You are safe even while you tremble.
