You Do Not Have to Be Strong
The house is quiet now, and the weight of the performance you carried all day finally has room to breathe. You are terrified that if you let the mask slip, even for a second, the people who love you will look at your raw face and see only confusion instead of care.
You hold your breath, keeping the armor tight, because you believe the truth of your pain might drive them away. But there is a light inside you that does not need a mask to be seen, and it does not confuse honesty with brokenness.
When you tremble and the facade cracks, the response you fear will not come; instead, you will find that the ones who truly know you are not looking for a performance to admire, but a person to hold. The light in them recognizes the light in you, even when it is shaking, even when it is hidden behind tears.
You do not have to be strong to be loved; you only have to be real.
