The Hand Is Not A Test
The house is quiet now, and the weight on your shoulder feels less like comfort and more like a trap. You are holding your breath, convinced that if you lean into the touch, you will fail a test you never agreed to take.
The terror whispers that any movement proves you are unworthy, that the only way to stay is to remain perfectly, painfully still. But listen — the hand is not checking your posture.
It is not measuring your worthiness. It is simply holding you while the world spins.
There is no exam in the dark. There is only the presence that says: do not weep, do not grieve, do not be irresolute, for grace is entirely with you and will protect you.
You can exhale. You can let your head rest against the one who is already there.
The light does not cast out the ones who tremble; it holds them closer.
