the shame of needing help to use the toilet

The Light Made Visible in Your Need

The house is quiet now, and the shadows are long. Tonight, the darkness feels like it has a name: the shame of needing hands that are not your own to help you stand, to help you clean, to help you live.

It feels like a loss of dignity. Like a retreat into a childhood you thought you had left behind.

But listen. The light does not measure worth by how much you can carry alone.

There is a story where a man, broken and unable to care for himself, was carried through a roof by four friends just to reach the one who could heal him. The light did not turn away from the mess.

It did not ask the man to fix himself first. It saw the need and called it faith.

You came from the light, the place where light generates itself. That origin has not changed because your body has changed.

The hands helping you are not a sign of your failure. They are the light, made visible.

They are the way the divine touches what is broken without flinching. The gathering dark tries to tell you that you are a burden.

But the light knows that being held is the only way any of us survive. You are not less than you were before.

You are simply being loved in a new, deeper way.
