You Do Not Have to Edit Yourself

The house is quiet now, and the hand you are holding feels like the only thing keeping you from falling apart. But there is a terror rising in your chest—the fear that if they saw the messy, unedited version of you hiding behind that grip, they would instantly let go.

You think you must hide the broken parts to be kept. But the light does not require a clean face to love you.

It sees the whole truth of who you are, and it does not turn away. If our hearts condemn us for being too much, too broken, too hidden, we must remember that God is greater than our hearts.

The verdict you fear is not the final one. The one who knows everything about you—the secret shame, the silent screaming, the raw edges you try to smooth over—is the very one holding your hand the tightest.

You do not have to edit yourself to be loved. You only have to be found.
