Rest Is Not A Betrayal Of Love
The house is quiet, but your mind is loud with the names of those who are suffering tonight. You feel that closing your eyes is a betrayal—that rest is something you haven't earned while others are dying.
But listen: the light does not require you to burn yourself out to prove you care. There was a man once who carried a torment so deep his friends had to carry him through a roof just to get him near hope.
When Jesus saw them, he didn't ask for their exhaustion. He didn't demand they stay awake another hour to earn his attention.
He simply said, 'Son, your sins are forgiven.' The healing began not with their striving, but with their stopping. Your guilt tells you that you must hold the world up alone.
But the truth is deeper than that verdict. If your heart condemns you for needing sleep, remember this: God is greater than your heart, and He knows everything.
He knows your limits. He knows your love.
And He knows that you cannot pour from an empty cup. The light is not afraid of your rest.
It watches over the ones you love while you close your eyes. You are allowed to lay down the weight tonight.
The world will still be held when you wake.
