The Light Before The Flinch
The hand rises, maybe just to fix a collar, maybe just to gesture, and the small body flinches before you even speak. That recoil lands heavier than any shout ever could.
It tells you the shadow you carry has grown teeth of its own. But listen — the light that lives in you was there before the anger, before the fear, before the first time you raised your voice.
It is still there, untouched by the shadow. Neither do I condemn you.
The verdict you are screaming at yourself tonight is not the final one. There is a love inside you greater than your worst impulse, waiting to heal what broke.
