The Light Kneels Beside Your Fear
The fluorescent lights hum above you, but your feet are rooted to the tile. You see the car in the lot, and suddenly the aisle is a canyon you cannot cross. The fear of being seen is so heavy it feels like gravity has shifted. You are calculating escape routes, rehearsing invisible scripts, terrified that a simple hello will shatter the quiet you've built around your pain.
But listen — the light does not demand a performance from you. It does not require you to be brave right now. It only asks that you breathe.
There is a peace that does not depend on whether you walk out or hide in the back. A peace that sits with you right here, between the shelves, while your heart races. The light is not in the avoidance. It is in the trembling itself.
You do not have to decide anything tonight except to stay present. The car will leave. The moment will pass. But the One who sees you standing there, frozen and afraid, is already kneeling beside you in the quiet.
