The Light Sees Beneath Your Mask
The engine is off, but the performance is just warming up. You sit in the silence of the driveway, rehearsing a cheerfulness that feels like a costume you have to zip on before opening the front door.
It is exhausting to be two people—the one who carried the weight of the day, and the one who walks inside smiling. But notice this: the light does not ask you to take off the mask before it sees you.
It already sees the face beneath it. There is a truth that lives in us and will be with us forever, untouched by the act you put on for your family.
You do not have to generate joy to be worthy of the home you are about to enter. The light is already inside the house, waiting not for your performance, but for your presence.
