You Do Not Have to Perform Peace
The engine cuts out and the silence rushes in, leaving you alone with the face in the rearview mirror. You sit there in the dark driveway, practicing the relaxation you do not feel, smoothing the tension from your forehead so the people inside won't see the weight you carried all day.
You are trying to hide the storm before you even open the door. But notice — the light does not require you to fix your expression before it welcomes you home.
It saw you when you were tired. It sees you now, still holding your breath.
You do not have to perform peace to enter the house of love. The mask can fall.
The real you is already known, and it is enough.
