The Stranger in the Rearview Mirror
The engine cools. The headlights cut out. And in the sudden dark of the rearview, the face staring back feels like a stranger's. All day you wore a mask so convincing even you forgot it was there. But the performance is over now. The audience has gone home. And the silence is loud enough to hear the crack in the armor.
You did not sin by hiding. You survived.
But the light does not need the mask to find you. It sees the person underneath the exhaustion. It sees the one who is tired of pretending to be strong. There is a light within you that was there before the first smile you faked this morning. It lights up the whole world, even when you feel dark.
You do not have to bring forth a perfect version of yourself to be loved. You only have to bring forth what is real. The hidden thing will become plain. The stranger in the mirror is just you, waiting to be recognized by the one who never looked away.
