shame and worthiness

Love Waits for No Perfection

The day is ending, and with it comes the heavy inventory of what you did wrong or who you failed to be. Shame tries to tell you that you must be fixed before you can rest, that you must earn your way back to peace.

But there was a woman who stood behind him, weeping, her feet wet with tears, and she expected only judgment. Instead, he looked at her and said, your many sins are forgiven, because she loved much.

He did not say, clean yourself first. He did not wait for your apology to be perfect.

He offered the forgiveness before the repentance was finished. The light does not require your worthiness to love you—it requires only your presence.

You are not a problem to be solved before you can exhale. You are already held, exactly as you are in this quiet room.

The armor can come off now—because the love was never waiting for you to be better.
