the shame of having to apologize for a reaction you haven't even acted on yet

The Embrace Arrives Before The Apology

The day is ending, and the armor you wore for twelve hours is finally heavy enough to drop. But before you can rest, your mind is already rehearsing tomorrow's apology.

You are sorry for a reaction that hasn't happened yet. You are begging forgiveness for a version of yourself that might not even show up.

The light does not ask you to preemptively mourn a storm that may never break. There was a father who saw his son turning home from a long way off.

He did not wait for the speech. He did not wait for the rehearsed shame.

He ran. The embrace came before the apology.

The love arrived before the explanation. You are carrying a debt you have not yet incurred.

The light is not keeping a ledger of your potential failures. It is simply waiting for you to put the weight down.

You do not have to be perfect to be held. You just have to be here, in the quiet, without the armor.
