Held When They Turned Away
The day is done. The armor is heavy, and you are finally taking it off.
But in the quiet, one sound remains louder than the silence: the exact tone in their voice when they stopped trying to understand you. It was not a shout.
It was a closing. A door clicking shut while you were still standing on the threshold, mouth open, heart exposed.
You have replayed that tone a thousand times, wondering what you could have said to keep them listening. But the light does not require their understanding to sustain you.
There is a presence that knows the shape of your soul better than you know it yourself. It heard you when they turned away.
It heard the words you never spoke. And it is here now, in the exhale, waiting to hold what they refused to carry.
You do not need to explain yourself to be held. You only need to be.
