living with a disability in a world not built for you

Rest Now, You Are Already Home

The day is done, and the world has finally stopped asking you to be someone you are not. You spent hours navigating stairs that were never built for your wheels, or doors too heavy for your hands, or eyes that look past you as if you are invisible.

It is exhausting to live in a structure that treats your very existence as an afterthought. But night does not care about ramps or rails.

Night falls on the broken and the whole with the same gentle weight. In this gathering dark, the demand to perform vanishes.

You do not have to fix anything tonight. You do not have to climb anything.

The light that lives inside you was there before the first barrier was raised, and it will be there when the sun rises again. It is not dependent on the world's design.

It is independent of your ability to move through it. The world may be narrow, but the light within you is wide enough to hold everything you are.

Rest now, not because you earned it, but because you are already home.
