the shame of feeling like a waste of their time and love

the shame of feeling like a waste of their time and love

The day is closing its eyes, and the silence is bringing up the ledger you tried to ignore while the sun was up. You count the hours you took, the love you received, and the emptiness you gave back, and the verdict is heavy: you are a waste.

But listen — there is a Father who has been watching the road since you left, not with a clock in his hand, but with eyes fixed on the horizon. He does not calculate the cost of your return.

He does not weigh your worth against your output. While you were still rehearsing your apology, still convinced you had nothing left to offer, he ran.

He ran before you could finish the speech that says you are too broken to be loved. The feast was not prepared because you earned it.

It was prepared because you are his. The light does not keep a ledger of what you wasted; it only knows the joy of what it has found.
