rewriting the same text message twelve times, deleting it each time because no version sounds casual enough

The Light Lives in the Deleted Draft

The cursor blinks, waiting for a version of you that doesn't sound too heavy, too needy, too much. You type the truth, then backspace it away, polishing the edges until the message is smooth enough to send but empty enough to be safe.

Twelve drafts sit in the trash, each one a little more honest than the last, and each one deleted because it felt too real. But the light does not live in the edited version of your life.

It lives in the raw, unpolished thought you are too afraid to release. Thomas said if you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you; if you do not, it will destroy you.

The thing you are trying to hide behind casual words is the very thing that needs to be seen. Stop trying to curate a persona the world will accept.

The light is already in the draft you deleted. It was there in the trembling honesty before you hit backspace.
