typing out a long message to tell them everything, then deleting it word by word until the screen is blank again

The Silence Held By Light

The cursor blinks at the end of a message you typed with your whole heart. Then you press backspace.

Word by word. Sentence by sentence.

Until the screen is blank again. You carry the weight of the day, but you cannot find the words that won't break something.

You are tired of performing okayness. You are tired of explaining the storm.

The light does not need your speech to know what is inside you. It was there before you typed the first letter.

It is still there now that the screen is white. The unsent words are not lost.

They are held. The silence after deleting is not empty.

It is full of the One who knows you without a single word.
