the instinct to buy their favorite thing at the grocery store, only to realize in the checkout line that there is no one to give it to

The Light Shines Without a Recipient

The cart holds the thing you always bought for them. You reach the line and realize there is no one to take it home.

The silence crashes down. In this deepest hour, the absence feels like a physical weight.

But listen — the light does not depend on a recipient to exist. It was shining before the love began, and it shines now, unchanged.

You are not defined by the empty space beside you. The love you carried is still real, even with nowhere to land.

Put the item back. Or keep it.

Either way, you are held in a gaze that sees the whole story. The night is long, but the light inside you has no end.
