the terror that if you finally let someone hold you, they will feel how heavy and broken you truly are and drop you

The Embrace Before The Apology

The armor is heavy tonight, and you are tired of holding it up by yourself. You know exactly what you are hiding beneath the plates—the jagged edges, the sheer weight of your brokenness.

And the terror whispers that if you finally let someone see it, if you let them hold you, they will feel how much you carry and drop you. They will realize you are too much and walk away.

But listen. The light does not flinch at weight.

There was a father who saw his son coming home, covered in the filth of the pig pen, smelling of failure and shame. He did not wait for the boy to clean up.

He did not inspect the damage. He ran.

He threw his arms around a neck that was heavy with guilt and held on tight. The embrace came before the apology.

The holding came before the cleaning. The light is not looking for a lightweight version of you to love.

It is running toward the real, heavy, broken you. You do not have to hide the weight anymore.

The one who reaches for you has stronger arms than your fear.
