The Listener Is Already Home
The afternoon sun is high, and the world is moving fast around you. You are performing the routine, smiling at the right moments, carrying the weight of being 'okay' while something inside feels hollow.
Then you hear it. Your own voice on a recording.
And for a terrifying second, you do not recognize the person speaking. It sounds like a stranger wearing your skin.
A mask that has slipped just enough to show the exhaustion underneath. But listen closely.
That disconnect is not proof that you are lost. It is the light waking up inside the performance.
The voice you heard was the one trying to survive the day. The silence you feel right now is the real you, waiting to be heard.
There is light within a person of light, and it lights up the whole world. If it does not shine, it is dark.
The terror you feel is simply the gap between the mask you wear for the crowd and the truth living in your chest. You are not the voice on the tape.
You are the one listening to it, wondering where you went. And the one who listens is already home.
