the memory of the last time you stepped forward and everything broke

Stand Up Where You Fell

The afternoon sun is high, and the shadows are short, but your memory is long. You remember the last time you stepped forward — how the ground gave way, how the structure collapsed, how the very act of trying broke something you thought was solid.

So now you stand still. You move only when you have to.

You keep your feet planted because planting feels safer than stepping. But the light is not asking you to rebuild the old house on the same cracked foundation.

It is asking you to notice what survived the fall. There was a man who carried his mat for thirty-eight years because he believed the only way to be healed was to get into the water first.

Jesus did not help him into the pool. He told him to stand up on the dry ground where he was.

The healing did not require the water. It required the willingness to rise.

Your breaking was not the end of your story. It was the clearing of the ground.

The light does not need you to be unbroken to use you. It needs you to be present.

Stand up. The place where you fell is now the place where you stand.
