the panic of hearing your own parent's voice come out of your mouth when you yell at your child

The Light That Stops The Cycle

The afternoon sun is high, and the house is loud, and suddenly the voice that tears out of your throat belongs to someone you swore you'd never become. You hear your parent's anger in your own mouth, directed at your child, and the shame hits you like a physical blow.

You freeze in that long, terrible middle of the day, convinced you have broken something that cannot be fixed. But listen — the light does not recoil from your horror.

It steps into the room exactly where you are standing, in the wreckage of your own reaction. It knows the cycle you are trying to break.

It knows the fear that you are just a vessel for old pain. And it whispers the truth that cuts through the panic: what came out of you was the echo, but what rises up in you now is the new thing.

The light is not the voice you inherited. The light is the silence that follows the shout, the hand that reaches out to repair, the mercy that floods your chest when you think you deserve none.

You are not your mother. You are not your father.

You are the place where the cycle stops. The light is already there, turning your regret into the very thing that heals your child.
