You Are A Known Cause Already Held
The afternoon sun is bright, and the offer of help sits on the table like a gift you are too afraid to unwrap. You smile, you say thank you, but inside you are already calculating the moment they will walk away.
You are convinced that if they stay long enough, they will see the mess behind your eyes and realize you are not worth the effort. So you push.
You deflect. You make yourself small or difficult, testing the water before they can jump in.
But the light does not calculate risk the way you do. There was a man lying beside a pool for thirty-eight years, convinced he had no one to help him into the water.
When the light asked if he wanted to get well, he did not give a polished answer. He gave an excuse.
He listed every reason why he was stuck. And the light did not debate him.
It did not wait for him to be worthy. It simply said: get up.
The help you are pushing away is not waiting for you to be fixed first. It is reaching for you exactly as you are, in the middle of the mess.
You are not a lost cause waiting to be discovered. You are a known cause, already held.
