the panic of accidentally saying something honest in front of others

The Light Does Not Hide From Day

The afternoon sun is bright, and sometimes it catches a truth you meant to keep hidden. You said something honest — maybe too honest — and now the heat feels like exposure.

The mask slipped, and the panic says you have ruined everything. But the light does not hide from the day; it simply shines.

There was a woman caught in the act, surrounded by accusers, certain that her worst moment defined her. The light bent down, wrote in the dust, and let the silence do the work of judgment.

Then it stood up and said: neither do I condemn you. The truth you spoke did not drive the light away.

It invited it in. Go now.

The sun is still shining, and you are still held.
