Light Beneath the Heavy Mask
The afternoon sun is bright, and it makes the mask feel heavy. You walk through the motions, smiling at the right moments, while inside you feel like a fraud for still daring to hope.
It feels dangerous to keep believing when the pain hasn't left. But there is a light that does not depend on your performance to shine.
It was there before the first smile you faked today. It is there now, beneath the exhaustion.
You do not have to manufacture it. You only have to stop hiding from it.
The light is not a reward for getting through the day. It is the reason you are still standing.
