the shame of realizing you scared people away by flinching at their touch

The Light Does Not Flinch From You

The afternoon stretches out, long and gray, filled with the quiet horror of remembering how you pulled away. You saw the hand reach for you—a gesture of comfort, of connection—and you flinched.

You saw the hurt flash across their face when you recoiled as if their touch was fire. Now you carry the weight of that rejection, convinced you have broken something that cannot be fixed.

But listen. The light does not flinch.

It does not recoil from the jagged edges of your fear. There is a truth waiting in the silence of this hour: if your heart condemns you for that moment of instinct, know that God is greater than your heart.

The verdict you are handing yourself is not the final one. The light sees the wound that made you pull back, and it does not turn away.

It stays. It knows you are not your flinch.

You are the space where the light still lives, even in the shame.
