Drop the script, the light is running
The afternoon stretches out, long and gray, and you are still rehearsing the speech. You know the one—the careful explanation for why you haven't fixed it yet, why the same problem is still sitting on your desk while everyone else seems to have moved on.
You practice the tone in your head, trying to sound responsible instead of ashamed. But listen—the light does not need your defense.
It never asked for a presentation. There is a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off.
He did not wait for the apology. He did not require the rehearsed speech about unworthiness.
Before the first word could be spoken, he ran. The light is already running toward you.
It is not waiting for you to be fixed. It is meeting you in the middle of the mess.
Drop the script. The explanation was never the point.
