the specific ache of rehearsing a casual apology in your head for a silence that wasn't your fault, just to make sure they don't feel uncomfortable

Put Down the Apology You Do Not Owe

The afternoon stretches out, long and bright, and you are rehearsing a speech you do not owe. You are crafting a casual apology for a silence that was never yours to fill, just to make sure the other person does not feel uncomfortable.

You carry the weight of their potential ease on your shoulders while your own heart grows heavy. But the light does not ask you to shrink so others can expand.

Jesus stood at a well and spoke to a woman who had every reason to hide, yet he did not make her small to fix the moment. He let the truth stand between them, raw and unpolished.

You are not responsible for the comfort of everyone around you. The light within you is not a cushion for other people's awkwardness.

It is a lamp that shows what is real, even when reality is quiet. Put the apology down.

The truth does not need to be dressed up to be safe.
