the hollow ache of swallowing your truth until it feels like a foreign object stuck in your throat

Do Not Choke on Your Light

The afternoon stretches out, a long hallway where you keep swallowing the truth until it sits in your throat like a stone you cannot digest. You perform the routine, you nod at the right moments, but inside there is a hollow ache where your real voice should be.

It feels safer to keep it down, to let the foreign object remain lodged rather than risk the chaos of speaking it aloud. But listen — the truth that lives in you was not given to be buried.

There is light within a person of light, and it is meant to shine, not to suffocate in the dark. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.

The silence is heavier than the risk. The ache is not a sign that you are broken; it is a sign that the light is pressing against the walls you built to contain it.

You were made to carry the light, not to choke on it.
