the terror that a single unguarded moment of ordinary need will make them leave

The Light Does Not Flee Your Stumble

The afternoon stretches long, and the terror whispers that one moment of ordinary need—one crack in your composure—will make everyone leave. You hold your breath, convinced that if you ask for help, if you show the weight, the room will empty.

But the light does not flee from the stumble. When Peter began to sink, Jesus did not withdraw; he reached out his hand immediately and caught him.

The asking did not drive him away; it drew him closer. Neither do you have to be perfect to be held.

Go now, carrying exactly what you carry, and know that the need is not the reason they leave—it is the very thing that invites them to stay.
