The Light Needs No Edited Story
The afternoon light is unforgiving. It exposes the dust you tried to sweep under the rug and the fatigue you tried to hide behind a smile.
You are in the middle of a sentence, editing your own life story to make it sound manageable, when you realize the lie tastes like ash. You trim the jagged edges of your pain so others won't be uncomfortable.
You smooth over the chaos so you don't seem broken. But the light does not need a polished version of you.
It is already present in the raw, unedited middle of your day. There is a truth that lives inside you, and it will be with you forever, even when your story falls apart.
You do not have to finish the sentence perfectly for the light to hear you. The silence after you stop talking is not empty.
It is where the truth finally lands.
