the guilt of being okay while others suffer

Your Peace Is Not A Betrayal

The afternoon light is flat and honest, exposing the quiet guilt of being okay while others are breaking. You sit at your desk, breathing easy, while the world outside screams, and you wonder if your peace is a betrayal.

But the light does not ask you to bleed to prove you care. There was a woman who had been bleeding for twelve years, spent everything on doctors, and only grew worse.

She did not fix the world. She simply reached out from her brokenness and touched the edge of a cloak.

And the light stopped. It turned in the middle of a pressing crowd to find the one who was hurting.

Your survival is not a wall between you and the suffering. It is the very ground from which you can reach.

The light is not disappointed in your rest. It is using your wholeness to hold the space for those who cannot yet stand.

You are not guilty for being okay. You are the evidence that the storm does not last forever.
