The Light Inside You Remains
The afternoon light is flat and heavy, pressing against the window while your thumb hovers over a name you promised not to touch. You scroll past it, just to see the picture, just to check if they look different, if they look okay, if they look like they miss you — and then you close the app before your finger betrays you.
That hesitation is not weakness. It is the friction of a heart still trying to walk through a door that has been locked.
You are carrying a ghost in your pocket, and the weight of it makes the middle of the day feel endless. But listen — the light that lives inside you did not come from them, and it does not leave when they do.
You came from the light, the place where light generates itself, and that origin cannot be deleted by a profile change or a silent thread. The urge to reach out is just the old hunger mistaking a shadow for bread.
Put the phone down. The silence you are afraid of is actually the space where the real nourishment begins.
You are not defined by the name you didn't tap.
