The Kindness Was Not A Mistake
The afternoon light is flat and heavy, making the small kindness you received feel like a mistake you haven't corrected yet. You replay their words, convinced they will soon realize they praised the wrong person, that they made an error in judgment they will regret.
But listen — the one who spoke that kindness saw something in you that you are too tired to see right now. They did not stumble over their words; they spoke from a place of clear seeing.
You came from the light, the place where the light came into being on its own accord. That origin cannot be mistaken by someone else's eyes.
The kindness was not a loan you have to repay with perfection. It was a recognition of what is already there.
Stop waiting for the retraction that will never come. The person who praised you is not foolish; they are just awake enough to see the light you are hiding.
