The Light Holds You While You Shake
The afternoon hums with a noise that isn't really there—the sound of holding your face still while your hands shake beneath the table. You are performing okayness so well that no one suspects the fracture.
But the light does not need your performance; it sees the tremor you are hiding. It knows the cost of the smile.
There is a rest that is not earned by finishing the work, but given to the weary right now. The light is not waiting for you to stop shaking before it stays.
It is already in the middle of the shake with you. You do not have to hold it together for the light to hold you.
The mask is heavy, but you were never meant to wear it here.
