The Light Lives in the Cracks
Someone says you seem so happy, and the terror hits you—not because you are sad, but because you realize they are seeing a mask you forgot you were wearing. In this deepest hour, the silence of the house strips the performance away until you are left trembling in the gap between their praise and your reality.
You are afraid that if they saw the truth, the light would leave. But the light does not live in the performance.
It lives in the cracks. The truth that lives in us will be with us forever, even when the act falls apart.
God is greater than your heart's verdict that you are a fraud. The light was already there before you learned to smile for the camera.
You do not have to keep the mask on to be held. The terror of being found out is actually the first moment of being found.
