You Are Not Responsible For Their Darkness

Morning light hits the window, and you put on the mask that says you are fine. You walk into the kitchen, you make the coffee, you smile at the world, while inside you are watching someone you love disappear into a fog you cannot clear.

You carry the weight of their choices like it was your own failure, wondering if your love should have been enough to stop the fall. But the light that lives in you was never meant to carry another person's burden.

There is a saying that reminds us we came from the light, sent here as a drop to illuminate the dark, not to drown in it. You are that drop.

You are not responsible for the intoxication of the world around you, only for the brightness you carry within. The person you love is walking through a valley where they cannot see their own root, but you do not have to lose yours to stay close to them.

Shine where you are planted. Let the light be enough for today.
