The Light Stays Even In Silence
It is three in the morning, and the silence feels like an accusation. You are terrified that your gratitude is just a performance—a desperate act to keep the light from walking away.
You think if you stop saying thank you, the door will close. But the light does not need your applause to stay.
It stood at the door before you ever spoke a word. There is a story of a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off.
He did not wait for the speech. He did not wait for the rehearsed apology or the perfect list of reasons why he should be allowed back.
He ran. Before the first syllable of gratitude could be formed, he was already holding him.
Your fear says you must earn the stay. The truth says you are already held.
The light is not a guest you must entertain. It is the air you breathe.
It does not leave when you run out of words. It stays when you have nothing left to give but your silence.
You are not keeping the light here by performing. The light is keeping you here by loving.
